Really though, what is the deal with keto?
It’s such a popular word in fitness today—you’ve probably heard how “so-and-so” started a ketogenic diet and feels amazing. So is keto just another trend, or is it here to stay?
Let’s get to the bottom of it, but first, what is keto anyways?
What is Keto?
There’s a bunch of science behind ketogenic dieting that I’m not going to get into today. All you need to know is that you’re inducing your body into a process known as ketosis. During ketosis, your body stops using stored carbs for energy, electing to use stored fats instead, which fuels weight loss.
When people go keto, they dramatically decrease the amount of carbs they eat. To make up for it, they intake more fats. You try to keep your proteins up and your calories around your daily recommended value.
What Foods Aren’t Keto-Friendly?
Because you can’t have many carbs on the ketogenic diet, there are certain carb-heavy foods you should probably stay away from. These include bread, pasta, cereal, and pastries, to name a few.
If you can’t live without any of those foods, this might not be the right diet for you.
Is Keto Worth It?
So the big question…is the keto diet worth it?
Is it worth a try? Absolutely. People see results from keto all the time.
But keep in mind that your fitness goals mind not be the same as theirs. Also remember that our bodies and lifestyles are all different, so what works for one person might not necessarily work for someone else.
It’s up to you to decide whether keto is worth a shot.
