They say we only use 10% of our brains…
That’s a whole lotta brain begging to be used!
In fitness, mentality is oftentimes what separates the result-getters from the pretenders. A strong, positive mindset is necessary if you want to turn your goals into reality.
What is the best way to sharpen your mindset? How do you really unlock the power of the mind?
With a little practice, you can develop razor-sharp focus and get every little drop of juice out of that brain of yours!
Let’s be real: so many things vie for our attention daily. If you know what to focus on, you won’t waste brain power on the stuff that doesn’t matter, the clutter that knocks your concentration off track.
To focus on a whim, you need to practice the art of focus.
Meditation is the best way to do this. Think of meditation as weightlifting for the mind.
All you have to do is find a quiet spot, close your eyes, and concentrate. And breathe. And concentrate. And breathe…
Try to narrow your focus down to one thing. Let nothing distract you from focusing on that ONE thing.
This trains your mind to block out the urge to multitask and split your focus. That’s how you get things done and achieve the results you’ve been dying for.
Let’s be real: so many things vie for our attention daily. If you know what to focus on, you won’t waste brain power on the stuff that doesn’t matter, the clutter that knocks your concentration off track.
Some people believe that the best way to learn how to swim is to jump in the deep end and figure it out…
Ok, I’m not saying to throw your friend who can’t swim into a pool, but pushing your mind out of its comfort zone definitely has its merits…
Think of it this way: how can you prepare for something you know nothing about?
How would someone expect their body to hold up for a marathon when they’ve never even ran a single mile in their life?
The point is that you need to push your mind to stretch its limits. It’s like how you strengthen your muscles by adding resistance to them…
Fitness is an amazing way to develop mental fortitude! When you work out hard, your mind tries to bargain its way into quitting before you make any real progress…
If you can tame your mind when it’s exhausted, just think about how clearly you’ll be able to focus when you’re well-rested!
Other options: try an improv class, learn a new skill, read something different—just get your mind out of the rhythm it’s used to.
There’s another way to get the most out of your mind, and it probably isn’t the first thing that comes to your mind…
That smart phone you’re holding? That little device could actually heighten your focus and increase your brain power…
How?
There are games on your phone’s app store that develop your memory, concentration, and awareness. It’s a win-win for you: you get to kill time with some fun games and power-up your mind at the same time.
The key is repetition. Play these games once or twice a day: you’ll notice a difference in your ability to focus.
