About Taber Black

Hi there! If we haven’t met yet, I’m Taber!

Here are some quick facts about me: I’m married to a hard-working cotton farmer. I have two kiddos, Dallan and Mayli, two rotten scotty dogs, Bella and Bindi, and one crazy cat. I devote a whole refrigerator shelf to pickles. I love Jesus. I have a sweet-tooth. Pretty sure I know every word to 90’s country radio.

My love for physical activity began as a young girl playing little dribblers and watching Jane Fonda videos with my mom (those leotards right?!?!). I was an all-around athlete in high school with track being my absolute favorite sport! After graduation, I completely lost all discipline of exercise and taking care of my body. My focus shifted onto a career and marriage, and the never-ending responsibilities of adult life.

I found myself in the winter of 2010 as a new mom ( I had gained 65 lbs with that pregnancy!) and desperate for my body to resemble my former days. But I had no idea where to begin. I started working with a personal trainer who taught me how to progressively challenge my body and how to incorporate the right foods into my diet. More-so, this trainer became my friend, my accountability partner, and my mentor. I began to see my body change and my self-motivation leap to new heights. Something deep within my heart began to stir: the desire to help others just like my trainer did for me.

That was the start of my journey: teaching classes as a group fitness instructor. I LOVED the music and energy of each class, but something was missing…I wanted a deeper personal connection with my class participants and I wanted to be an expert in the fitness field. This led me to obtain my personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the title of Level 1 Nutrition Coach through Precision Nutrition (PN). A big deal in my world, because my background was in Business Administration. But NASM and PN built a solid foundation for me (both are truly top notch in the training industry) and I finally gained the confidence to open my very own personal training studio. What a dream come true!

The studio did amazingly well, and two years in, I felt a calling to fuel my talent in new directions: the Fit Body Boot Camp family! Everything I knew about FBBC aligned with my values: strong client relationships, solid nutritional coaching, welcoming community culture, generosity & humility, and of course, the awesome workouts.

That is why I am so excited to be bringing the Fit Body Boot Camp experience to Lubbock.
