Greeting Fit Family!
Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is David Fisher and I am here to serve you.
My journey in fitness began as a young boy who received a plastic weight set, filled with concrete from his favorite Uncle. I wore the threads out of the collars, cracked the plastic covers from dropping them and quickly fell in love with the feeling of lifting weights. In reality, my goal was to not be so weak, to look bigger and build my self esteem. Athletics was a must and every season was a different sport. Hobbies focused on being outdoors and active. The trouble was that I never felt my skill level was good enough to excel. My nickname at home was porky pig because I ate whatever processed food or snacks that I could find. Lil’ Debbie was my best friend. My solution to the weight gain was wrestling and all that was involved in ‘making weight.’
Fast forward to my adulthood where the constant battle between pant sizes never ended. I have lost and found the same 20 lbs. over and over, at least half a dozen times. At one point there was a transformation contest that I entered and achieved a single digit body fat percentage. Only to gain it all back, and then some. The trick was to find a motivation to psych up for and then do the work. The problem was that the methods generally produced short term results.
It was not until my health started to suffer that a better solution became important. In my mind, the justification of being able to out exercise my diet choices was less and less apparent. To make matters worse, people would comment that I seemed healthy. That was until my doctor comment on my Body Mass Index (BMI) being over 30 and that technically I was obese. First thought, get a new doctor. Eventually, the body started getting tired, TUMS became as regular as brushing my teeth twice a day and something needed to change.
I focused on people that were willing to do the work. Thought leaders that sought to help others change, like Bedros Keuilian the CEO & Founder of Fit Body Boot Camp. Eventually Dave 2.0 was created. My family still doesn’t believe that I eat vegetables besides lettuce. It can be done!
